Feeding the Obsession
One of the many reasons I love spring and summer is the start of garage sale season. Going to Garage sales is one of my little obsessions. I see a garage sale as I'm driving by and something inside of me goes all tingly. The bright colors of kids toys sparkling in a driveway is somehow addicting to me. I can't explain the obsession. I just know that one season of the year, I need to feed it. Ah, there is nothing so satisfying as finding a spectacular deal on something you want or need (or don't need but want anyways) around the house. For example, last year I found an electric weed eater for next to nothing and a wheelbarrow for even less. They both have come in super handy. This year, my goal was to find a bike trailer so that I can start getting some cardio introduced back into my exercise program. The first of the many surrounding towns and cities is having it's city wide garage sale. On my weekly trip to the store, I decided to go check out some of the early sales. (The majority of them open up tomorrow.) And I found my bike trailer. I brought it home, hooked it up, and took the kids on their first sweet ride. They were more than excited and begged me to keep going. After the last few blocks of uphill riding, my legs had turned to jelly and my knees felt like I'd been punched repetitively. I had to stop the ride and head home. But they happily rode along, sipping their chocolate soy-milk as they went. It was great to get my heart pumping and my lungs huffing (actually they were burning like fire, but you get the point). The great thing is that I get to benefit as well as the kids. I figure if I can stick to taking them on a ride 4 or 5 times a week, then I might start losing weight as opposed to plateauing. Losing weight and entertaining the kids. I think I have a winner!

That's awesome man! I'm jealous that you have paved roads to take rides on. Take a picture next time, I'd love to see it.
