The Wiggles 2011

What a great time we had seeing The Wiggles again this year! Once again, I think my excitement may have been somewhat...perhaps significantly...greater than the kids. What is it about the Aussie men that make me smile so much? And it's not just the Wiggles either. Perhaps that's one of my reasons for wanting to visit Australia so badly one day. Nevertheless, the kids had an amazing time! And by kids I'm including myself in the mix. Josh had fun, but I think his fun-o-meter isn't nearly as topped out by this event as mine is. We left on Thursday and drove six hours to Allen, Texas. Whew! What a drive that was in those triple digit temperatures. We packed a cooler full of food and stopped to picnic out for an nice break. Saves money and I don't have to question every ingredient in all the restaurant food. We don't eat out for that reason.

When we got to the hotel the kids were...well...a little too excited about it. You can tell that my children lead a somewhat sheltered life when it comes to the finer things there are. They literally were excited about everything in the hotel. "Mom!! Look!! Beds!!" And of course my personal favorite, "Wow!! They have a closet!!" which they spent a good amount of time going in and out of. They wanted to walk the halls, use the elevator and swim in the pool nearly every second of the day. It was endearing in a way.

Friday was the big day. Concert time! I'll do a two-part blog to cover all the best pictures. Maybe even three-part if it calls for it. When we got to the event center, there were kids dressed up in Wiggles gear everywhere, but Alex was the envy of many. In his Sam Wiggle outfit, complete with microphone, belt and striped pants, he had children begging parents to get an outfit just like his. It was cute. The kids were super excited and I was on the edge of my seat in hopes of having Anthony walk down my aisle. (I was on the last seat of the row.) No luck, but I did get to speak to Murray and almost fell over myself trying to not get run over by Sam as I tried to get a video of Abby giving him her Rose for Dorothy. It's official. I become a bumbling idiot when I'm around someone famous. *slaps head in shame* What is wrong with me?? Oh well. Alex had a brief 15 minute period when he was not happy to be there. I finally got to the core of this little issue. It's me. He hates it when I'm paying so much positive attention to someone else. Great. He hates it when ol' mom has a good time. Once I tickled him and gave him some positive attention he was dancing in the aisles and laughing all the way.

The concert flew by and I was super-bummed when it was time to leave the hotel and come back to reality/home. Hotel life isn't something I've really experienced much of and I must admit that it was relaxing and quite fun. Of course, for $20 extra bucks a night I could have been at the same hotel as The Wiggles and caught a glimpse of those wonderful Aussie men in their normal clothes...but coulda, shoulda, woulda...right? Now it's off to the photos!

Josh and the kiddos pre-concert. What a fabulous time this was!

Pre-show - Alex was wiggling non-stop in anticipation.

The Wiggles! If you look close enough you'll notice that the purple Wiggle isn't Jeff. :-( Not that you'd notice if you're not a fan, but nevertheless. He had a wonderful stand-in named Brad who's been a Wiggly dancer for a long time now. Jeff had heart surgery unexpectedly to get a pacemaker put in a week before this and couldn't fly to the U.S.A. to tour for at least a month. Get well Jeff!

Alex was in high spirits to give his bones for Wags to Murray. Murray looked down and said, "Hey there Sam! Oh! You look just like Sam!" Then he smiled and laughed and looked at me to say, "I thought he was Sam!" I smiled and told him how Sam's his favorite and then thanked him. I spoke to Murray!! I rock! (I'm aware at how pathetic I sound to the innocent bystander but dude! It's Murray!) It was so cute. Alex walked right up to Murray and tapped him on the arm to get his attention. Murray instantly addressed him. One of the reasons I love these guys. Great with kids.

Abby became this social butterfly over night. She marched right up to Sam and handed him Alex's yellow rose. (Though Sam is Alex's hero, this was right around the time he was pouting. Weird kid.) Sam was pointed out to Abby how the rose is yellow like him. I started up the video about right here in hopes of getting video with Abby. Sam started moving and then I stumbled around like a moron, failing in my video attempt all the while looking like a crazy lady. Mom: Fail.

More pictures coming soon!
