Day Number 18

Finally. Tomorrow is the big day. After one brutal week of the big bad bug, Alex and Abby are getting what their hearts desire - a day at Grandma and Grandpa's house. They are so excited to get a change of scenery. I'll be perfectly honest with you. I'll be glad to let them get that change of scenery. Those little tykes need out of this house desperately and what better a way than to go visit two of the people they love so much? I ask myself, are they still contagious? Am I dooming my parents to 12-24 hours of feeling under the weather? Will my parents regret the four hours of grandparent bonding? In answer to those questions I say: probably, hopefully not, and absolutely not! Though contagious they may be, the chances are good that my folks won't catch anything providing they don't pick my kids' noses. I'll be sending a jug of hand sanitizer as a backup as well. But there is not even a shred of doubt that my parents, should they get said nasty bug, would regret it. They adore all of their grandchildren and I'm blessed to have them so close to us. I believe grandparents would do anything for their grandchildren and that no price is too high. Alex is beside himself with joy and Abby is bursting with happiness at the idea of setting up another Christmas tree. After Josh and I get back from Christmas shopping we are taking them to see Santa Claus and do some fun Christmas arts and crafts in town. It's their first time to visit Santa and I'm surprised at just how excited they are. I hope to instill in them a love for him. The spirit of giving is a wonderful thing and I hope to pass that love on to them. Which reminds me...I better go charge my camera battery. I can't wait to post pictures. "Day number 18" as Alex calls it (the 18th of December) is going to be great!
