God Bless Hobby Lobby

If it weren't for Hobby Lobby (and occasionally other stores), I would be spending my winter cooped up in a house with two extremely bored children. Correction. I would be cooped up in my house with two extremely bored children and one bored husband who is tired of hearing about how bored the children are. And more often than not, when the wee ones are bored, I will have at least one of them attached to my leg crying. And as I am unwilling to spend three months with 70+ pounds hanging off of my legs, I took a well-needed trip to Hobby Lobby. Except for the basics (construction paper, glue, etc.) we were very short on supplies. We all know that Christmas time is one of the best times to get creative. Because even if you have a surplus of sloppily painted reindeer and Santa's with crooked eyes and half-done beards, you always have a perfect way to pawn them off...er...I mean...give them as gifts to unsuspecting family members. Should I have mentioned that this blog should contain a spoiler alert to grandparents? Eh. They know they're gettin' stuff like that. It's inevitable. So here are Alex and Abby painting on the first of many days worth of arts and crafts. Abby is totally in her element and could do this all day if I let her. Alex painted his very own Big Red Car (Wiggles, of course) and was very excited about getting it to dry faster so he could play with it.

Right now I have a big shoe box to store all the arts and drawings the kids make. So now for the question of the day. What size of box would one need to contain the mass supply of arts and crafts of two children over the span of 20 years? Hmmm...I'm gonna need a bigger box.

I would like to take a moment to wish yet another birthday wish. Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law, Dianne. (My brother Jeremy's wife.) Happy Birthday Dianne! I know that things are crazy with having one little boy and a husband across the seas for so long, but I truly hope that your day was special and that you had a wonderful birthday.
