A couple of weeks ago, we dropped the kiddos off at my mom and dad's house for a little Grandma and Grandpa time. I tell ya what. They sure do love their Grandma and Grandpa (both sets). But what kid could pass up a day on the farm with Grandma and Grandpa? Josh and I got to go spend a little adult time out watching Sherlock Holmes. (Great movie by the way. Robert Downey and Jude Law were awesome!) So my mom went to the store before I dropped them off and got some Alex friendly bread and some fruit for them for lunch so I wouldn't have to pack one for them. Because, well...she's awesome like that. She got them strawberries. It isn't exactly strawberry season around here and I hadn't bought fresh strawberries since last summer. I remember the kids loving them, but I didn't think much about it until now. Ever since they got the sweet taste of fresh strawberries back in their mouths, that is all they asked for. During the winter we are a canned fruit kind of family. Apparently that isn't good enough any more. So I'm back to buying the fresh fruit now even though it's winter. It's a little rougher on the pocket book, but I swear the kids eat it about a million times better and they thank me for the fruit they eat now. It's cute and not a problem because fresh is always better. I suppose I just needed a good reason to buy it. But now my easy out of using canned fruit has been totally trumped by one weekend of strawberries at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Thanks Grandma. The kids love you for it.
